Finding simple ways to share what we have learnt
My most popular internet post is a picture of a playground in Mexico City.
A key element of a holiday with a small person is finding local playgrounds and places to play. Last year we were in Mexico City (we had been to a friend’s wedding) and our then four-year-old needed a runaround. I searched on Google Maps but couldn’t find much near us, at least nothing with pictures.
I headed for the green space and found a lovely playground. I decided I’d take a picture and share it. It has been viewed 54,000 times. There are lots of other parents looking for places to play!
50k isn’t exactly a viral moment but it is way higher than any tweet, LinkedIn post or blog I have ever written and far less work!
It is a neat example of recognising a challenge and having a simple way of helping to make it easier for those who come next.
This is something I see in the organisations I work with. People find neat ways to navigate systems and processes but don’t always have a simple way to share what they have learnt with others. It is something I think is vital to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
How do you help people in your organisation share what they have learnt?
